more than 6.7 million customers reach preferential loans from VBSP
(VBSP News) Reporting on the performance of the Social Policy Bank in the second quarter of 2026, Board Member and General Director of the Social Policy Bank Nguyen Thi Hang stated that by June 30, 2026, the total capital reached VND 474,796 billion, an increase of VND 47,500 billion compared to 2025.
Of this amount, entrusted capital from localities reached VND 81,105 billion, an increase of VND 15,014 billion compared to 2025 and an increase of VND 77,296 billion compared to before the issuance of Directive No. 40-CT/TW, accounting for 17.1% (exceeding the target of the Social Policy Bank Development Strategy to 2030).

Regarding credit growth, in 2026, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) was assigned by the Prime Minister to achieve a maximum credit growth of 10% compared to 2025 and to provide funding for credit programs as prescribed. By the end of June 2026, VBSP had completed 94% of its assigned growth plan, bringing the total outstanding policy credit to VND 454,370 billion, an increase of VND 40,843 billion (9.9%) compared to 2025, with over 6.7 million customers still having outstanding loans. This is the highest credit growth rate of VBSP compared to the same period in previous years.
In the first six months of the year, policy credit capital supported investment in production and business, creating jobs for nearly 487,000 workers, including over 3,800 who went to work abroad on temporary contracts, over 2,400 people who completed their prison sentences, and 286 people who recovered from drug addiction who borrowed capital to create jobs; helped over 12,000 disadvantaged students borrow capital for their studies, including nearly 1,200 students who borrowed capital to study STEM fields; built over 974,000 clean water and sanitation facilities in rural areas; supported the purchase, lease-purchase, and construction of over 9,100 social housing units for poor households and low-income groups, contributing to economic stability and development, ensuring social security, and effectively implementing national target programs for sustainable poverty reduction, new rural development, and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Besides the growth in outstanding loans under policy credit programs, the quality of policy credit operations continues to be maintained stably. As of June 30, 2026, the total overdue and non-performing loans in the entire system amounted to VND 2,245 billion, accounting for 0.5% of the total outstanding loans. Of which, overdue loans totaled VND 958 billion, accounting for 0.2% of the total outstanding loans...

The Social Policy Bank has actively coordinated with ministries and agencies to advise and submit to the Government and the Prime Minister documents on the organization and operation of the Social Policy Bank and policy credit programs. It continues to affirm its role as one of the pillars in implementing social security policies, making a significant contribution to maintaining political stability, promoting socio-economic development, and realizing the Party and State's goal of "leaving no one behind."
