Krông Nô unleashes its internal potential for sustainable poverty reduction

By effectively utilizing national target programs and various social resources, Krông Nô commune (Lâm Đồng province) has implemented a comprehensive set of solutions to support livelihoods, provide preferential credit, and eliminate temporary housing, helping people increase their income and gradually escape poverty sustainably.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Krông Nô commune handed over a Solidarity House to a poor household in the locality.

From housing support to livelihood development

Since the beginning of 2026, Krông Nô commune has mobilized various resources to implement a program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for disadvantaged households. These new houses not only help people settle down but also create momentum for economic development and stabilize their lives.

Mr. Y Thien (residing in Bon Dru) is one of the five impoverished households in the locality that recently received support in the form of a new "Great Solidarity" house. The new house provides the family with a stable place to live, creating motivation for them to work and develop their economy, while also eliminating feelings of inferiority and self-doubt.

"

Having a new house has made my family very happy and more secure. We feel the care and concern of the State and local authorities. This motivates my wife and I to work hard, develop production, gradually rise out of poverty, and better care for our children.

Mr. Y Thien, Bon Dru, Krong No Commune

Along with housing support, Krông Nô commune has identified livelihood development as a long-term solution to help people escape poverty sustainably.

With funding from the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction, the locality has implemented many projects to support the provision of seedlings, livestock, and agricultural tools, helping people reduce investment costs and improve production efficiency.

Households in Krông Nô commune receive grass trimmers to support agricultural production.

At the end of July, the Krong No Commune General Service Center distributed fertilizer to households participating in the Community Production Development Support Project with a total budget of over 418 million VND; at the same time, they handed over grass cutting machines to 21 households in Bon Yok Rlinh, Bon Ol, Dak Vuong village and Dak Dro village, contributing to reducing production costs, promoting mechanization and improving labor efficiency.

Introducing lawn mowers into production not only reduces labor and saves on hiring costs but also contributes to promoting agricultural mechanization, shortening crop care time, and increasing labor productivity.

The people of Krông Nô commune are given maximum support to develop their economy and rise out of poverty.

Towards the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.

Recognizing that sustainable poverty reduction goes beyond simply providing resources and, more importantly, fostering self-reliance among the people, Krông Nô commune has implemented many comprehensive solutions in recent times.

Policy credit funds continue to be a "lever" helping many poor households, near-poor households, and ethnic minority households to invest in production, create jobs, and increase income.

Krong No. 4 Commune Poverty Reduction Center

Krông Nô commune effectively utilizes preferential loan capital to develop its economy.

Mr. Y Thanh (residing in Broih village) is one of the households that has effectively utilized preferential loan capital. Few people know that, in the past, he had repeatedly refused loans because he worried that his business would not be profitable and he would not be able to repay the debt.

After receiving guidance and information from local officials, organizations, and the social policy bank, he boldly borrowed 100 million VND to invest in crop care combined with pig farming. Thanks to using the capital for the right purpose, his family's production model gradually became effective, creating a stable income and gradually improving their living standards.

Along with providing financial support, Krông Nô commune focuses on implementing comprehensive social welfare policies, creating conditions for the poor to access basic social services.

According to the People's Committee of Krông Nô commune, in the first six months of 2026, the locality directed agencies and units to focus on mobilizing various resources to support poor households, near-poor households, and vulnerable groups.

Along with livelihood support, the locality ensures that the poor have full access to basic social services such as healthcare, education , housing, clean water, sanitation, and information and communication; and at the same time, fully implements social assistance programs and provides health insurance cards for social welfare beneficiaries.

Krong No. 5 Commune Poverty Reduction Center

In 2026, Krông Nô commune aims to reduce the number of households by 1.92%, equivalent to 115 households.

Upon review, the entire commune currently has 336 poor and near-poor households, including 80 poor households, accounting for 1.44% of the total 5,569 households; and 256 near-poor households, accounting for 4.59%.

The synchronized implementation of support policies has contributed to improving people's lives, creating sustainable livelihoods, and fostering self-reliance and self-improvement within the community. This is the foundation for Krông Nô to continue effectively achieving its sustainable poverty reduction goals in the coming years.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Head of the Economic Department of Krong No commune, the locality aims to reduce the poverty rate to 1.92% in 2026, equivalent to 115 households (including 20 poor households and 95 near-poor households).

"

In the coming period, the commune will continue to mobilize resources to effectively implement the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction. At the same time, it will strengthen propaganda and guidance to help people effectively utilize support resources, promote self-reliance and self-improvement, and strive to achieve the poverty reduction targets set for 2026.
